Mike worked for Andersons Engineering, the biggest boiler manufacturer in the South Island before it closed downing the late 80’s. Mike has advanced knowledge of all things boilers and many of the boilers that they work on today at Kelford originated back 30 – 40 years ago, so Mike is well known for his vast knowledge about coal, diesel and oil-fired boilers as well as Andersons Boilers.

Steve Bamford is co-owner of Kelford Engineering and has been with Kelford since its formation in 1991. Steve has a 40 years trade background in heavy engineering and is the operations manager within the business.

He reports that the team are ‘self-managing’ and know what they need to do, so he keeps an eye on them and answers any questions they may have and brainstorms when required.

Looking after the clients is his key role and he is proud to say that Kelford has managed to retain most of their original clients.

“Because the staff always do a good job, the clients are happy and that makes the business so much easier.”

“We get to do things a little differently because we know what works in specific contexts.”

Nic Gebbie is the Manager for Kelford Engineering.

Nic organises all the jobs for the team, provides training, looks after the Health and Safety requirements and takes care of the customers specific requirements. Finding out what the client needs and completing the project to a very high standard is Nic’s primary focus and like the rest of the team at Kelford, Nic loves a creative challenge. He gets on well with the clients and enjoys the challenge of the different projects that they bring to him.

Trade qualified and 10 years with Kelford, Nic comes from a heavy machinery and plant background in the textile industry. Nic worked for a textile company located ‘across the road’ from Kelford. After the building was destroyed in the Christchurch Earthquake, Nic literally crossed the road and begun working at Kelford.
